Sports movies for the win! Honestly, I’m not the sports fan I once was for various reasons, but I do love a good sports film. Sometimes comedies, usually dramas, but some of the titles are among my favourite movies of all time. And a fair number of blockbusters are sports films. The original Rocky before it became a cartoon of itself. Jerry Maguire. A League of Their Own.
Some feature my favourite actors – Robert Redford in The Natural, Kurt Russell in the US Olympic Hockey movie Miracle, Brad Pitt in Moneyball.
Others were side-splittingly funny – Dodgeball, Slapshot, Happy Gilmore and Major League.
But for many different reasons, here are my top 3 sports movies of all time.
3-Rudy (’93 starring Sean Astin)
2-Remember The Titans (2000 movie starring Denzel Washington)
and my number one favourite movie about my least favourite sport just in time for March Madness – (go figure!) 1- Hoosiers (’86 starring Gene Hackman and Dennis Hopper)
