Lunenburg School of the Arts Wants You To get Creative

The Lunenburg School of the Arts is celebrating its fifth anniversary by holding an art contest.

The school is a non-profit organization that offers art instruction in summer, fall and winter terms. There is no membership required, students simply sign up for the classes. During the summer they offer week-long sessions and in the fall and winter offer once weekly sessions for a ten-week period.

Katie Hall, Operations Coordinator, said the contest is open to anyone and is a way to keep everyone excited about art and engaged with the school.

“Our school motto is ‘The Town of Lunenburg Is Our Campus’ so we thought this would be a reat way for people to explore that idea,” she said.

There are three contest categories; Best of Show, Honouring Lunenburg and Creative Knockout. Entrants are encouraged to submit their work by E-mail and the school will post them on its Facebook page. Winners will be determined by Facebook likes and reactions and there are some cool prizes for the winners.

Having to stay home and social distance makes the contest a perfect way to get creative juices flowing.

“Art is a great way to distract yourself and keep your brain moving and it can be done anywhere,” said Hall.

To submit art to the contest, in any medium, visit the Lunenburg School of the Arts Facebook page.
