Funding available for PPE and Training

Now that businesses in the province are re-opening there will be an increased need for PPE to control the spread of COVID-19.

For non-profit organizations help is available to cover the extra costs associated with that equipment and training on its proper usage.

As part of the $350 million Emergency Community Support Fund released by the federal government, the Canadian Red Cross is distributing funds to community organizations who support those experiencing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, said Dan Bedell, Communications Director, Atlantic-Canadian Red Cross.

“In many communities you have all kinds of non-profit or registered charities that are out there in the community helping people who are vulnerable to things like COVID-19. They may have stopped for a period of time and are just starting again, or have been doing this all along but incurring additional costs. We encourage them to see if they are eligible for funding and apply,” he said.

To determine eligibility for funding and to apply, visit the Red Cross website here or call 1-866-221-2232. The deadline to apply is July 7.
