Hot Humid Weather Ahead For The South Shore

Environment Canada has released a special weather statement, warning of high temperatures in the days ahead.

The hottest temperatures for this season so far are expected for most of inland Nova Scotia including Lunenburg County, Queens County and Kings County on Thursday, Friday and possibly Saturday.

Thursday will see maximum temperatures of 30 to 32 degrees with a Humidex of 36, Friday will see a maximum temperature of 33 degrees with a Humidex of 38.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Ian Hubbard says that as we head into summer we will see more of these really warm days that will help heat things up.

“Warmer air will be coming up from the New England area up over parts of the province and the Maritimes which is why we are expecting temperatures to slowly increase,” he said.

Environment Canada suggests reducing outdoor activity or rescheduling things for cooler parts of the day to stay safe in the heat wave.

Coastal regions will have the benefit of cool winds blowing onshore.
