At 7:40 last night the Chester FD responded to a house fire on Penny Lane in Chester.
Lunenburg FD, South West Hants(Vaughan) FD, Chester Basin FD, Western Shore FD, Martins River FD, Blandford FD and Hubbards FD also responded to the scene.
Assistant Deputy Chief of the Chester FD Greg Conron says a family of five who lived in the home where able to get out safely and were not injured.
“It was a single-story dwelling and when we got there the house was well involved,” he said.
The house was a complete loss.
The family have been offered the use of a nearby cottage and Canadian Red Cross volunteers from Bridgewater have assisted them with emergency purchases like food and clothing.
