Bridgewater’s mayor is hoping for another term as the head of council.
Mayor David Mitchell announced his re-offering as mayor Wednesday as he prepares for the Fall municipal elections.
Mitchell said his first term was a rewarding experience, but also served as an eye opener as to how he approaches issues and changes.
“I can be very passionate and very enthusiastic,” he said.
“I want to get to the goal as quickly as possible, but I’ve realized we don’t move at my pace, we move at our pace together. That is something I’m definitely going to work on more in the next term if I’m elected.”
Mitchell said the job comes with many great days, but also not so great days, which can take a toll not only on him, but his family and the town as well.
However, he said those days don’t affect the passion he carries for the job.
If elected, he wants to focus on ongoing projects next term, such as Energize Bridgewater, slowing wastewater spillage into the LaHave, and the new highway 103 interchange, which he expects to be a game changer for the town’s industrial park.
“The business park re-alignment, as we are calling it, the opportunity there for new business and start ups is super exciting,” he said.
“Many are already asking questions and showing interest in the project and our community.”
The project is set to create a new entrance to the park, as well as expand it to the other side of the highway, allowing businesses to utilize a large chunk of green land for operations.
Mitchell says the project is just another step forward in progression for Bridgewater, something he is excited to see more of in the future.
Municipal elections are set for Saturday, October 17th, and voting in Bridgewater will be done via E-Voting.
