Here we are a few months into 2021 and have you noticed a big change in your grocery bill yet?
So far I have been noticing the steady climb at the gas pumps and I am starting to wonder if that will ever stop. Last week we cracked the $1.20 per litre mark and that is more that we were paying before the pandemic hit. FYI, there is another predicted increase coming tonight too.
With fuel for the car increasing in price, what about fuel for us? The predictions leading into the new year talked about increases up to 5% for food bills this year.
The 11th annual edition of Canada’s Food Price Report forecasts an overall food price increase of 3 to 5% for 2021. The most significant increases are predicted for meat at 4.5 to 6.5%, bakery at 3.5 to 5.5%, and vegetables at 4.5 to 6.5%.

With prices expected to climb throughout the year, and most wages remaining the same at best, what can you do? I know for us, we are paying a lot more attention to the flyers. So much so that our 2 year old opened one flyer up the other day and started pointing out the numbers, haha (monkey see, monkey do).
I also expect to again see more people growing a garden again this year.
