Town of Shelburne releases strategic plan

The Town of Shelburne released a new strategic plan.

Council wants to focus on areas like employment, growth, partnerships and capacity.

Mayor Harold Locke says it’s an upgrade to the previous plan.

“With the result of COVID and the financial situation of the town, it was put to the back-burner. Now that the finances have improved, we can move forward with this re-vamped and updated plan,” said Mayor Locke.

He says they’ve reached out to the Black Loyalist Heritage Society to grow their partnership.

Mayor Locke says they also want to improve their waterfront.

“It’s one of the best natural harbours in the world. There are a lot of opportunities with that harbour. We’re spending some time on expansion and upgrades to the wharves.”

Some priorities for the next four years include office relocation, a lower tax rate, by-law reviews, upgrades to water systems and more.
