Antigonish Jr. B Bulldogs are Veterans Cup champs again

The Antigonish Junior Bulldogs clinched their third consecutive Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League Championship.

They edged the South Shore Lumberjacks 4-3 in double overtime in Bridgewater Wednesday night.

About 1500 hockey fans turned out for game 6 of the best-of-seven series at the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre.

With 11:05 to play in the second overtime, Nick Marshall of the Bulldogs came around the Jacks net and managed to poke it in the short left-hand side of goalie Keegan Greencorn.

Scoring for the Lumberjacks were Daniel Leblanc, Alec Howie and John Shubaly.

The teams were tied 43-43 in shots.

Wednesday’s victory means the Bulldogs advance to the Don Johnson Memorial Cup Atlantic Junior Championship in Mount Pearl, NL from April 23rd to 28th.
