Man charged after disturbance at Elmsdale apartment complex

A 30-year-old man from Sipekne’katik First Nation is charged after an incident in Elmsdale.

On April 18, East Hants District RCMP went to an apartment complex after reports of a man with a knife.

While fleeing on foot, the man reportedly tried to carjack several vehicles unsuccessfully.

Police officers were also threatened with a knife, while the man reportedly tried to steal a vehicle.

The man was taken into custody by RCMP after a taser was used.

He has been charged with three counts of robbery, assault of a Peace Officer, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, resisting a peace officer, and three counts of failure to comply with an order.

He remains in custody and will return to Shubenacadie Provincial Court on April 22.
