The alleged sexual assault of a man by a Bridgewater Police officer has been dismissed by the province’s police watchdog.
The Serious Incident Response Team says last March, a man alleged he had been sexually assaulted during his arrest nearly four months earlier.
Bridgewater police were executing an arrest warrant for the man at Freeman House on November 20, 2019, when a scuffle broke out between the man and five officers.
In the report, the man alleged his pants were removed three times during the arrest, and that an officer had put their hand down between the cheeks of his buttocks.
However the report concludes there was insufficient evidence to prove the man was assaulted, as the man was unable to determine which officer had committed the act, and none of the employees who witnessed the arrest were able to confirm it had happened.
SIRT says no charges are pending.
