Memories Bring A Smile On A Trip Back In Time

Yesterday was a bit of a trip down memory lane. The time came that the storage room here at the station needed to be cleaned out. For any of us that have worked for Acadia Broadcasting on the South Shore before 2010, we remember the big move across the river. I remember one of my first duties when I started with the company was to help organize the record library. As technology has changed many times since then, we now broadcast from a building that is tape, vinyl AND CD free. Very strange to think that one thing I was proud of when working weekends way back when, was that if the reel to reel tape broke during the church programming, I could reload the machine in under 10 seconds.
It’s been over a decade since we left the Bridgewater Plaza location to come to the shiny new spot on North Street, but there will always be a smile that comes to my face when I think of the memories made in our former home.

There are likely a number of locations that cause fond memories to flash back for some of you. Upper Clements Park for example. From the antique car ride, to the Floom and of course the wooden roller coaster, that place was a lot of fun. I thought it was going to be demolished when it was closed, but apparently it is still there, according to this video.

Today I learned Upper Clements Park was not demolished, but abandoned pretty much intact.

This week we are giving you a chance to win a board game that will no doubt offer up some memories when you play. Imagine buying the “Big Ex”, losing a turn because you ate too much at Waves Seafood and Grill, or paying property tax on the NSCC. “Brdgewater-Opoly” will give you the chance and you could win it this week on Country 100.7.
Is there a spot you wish you could visit again? A topic of thought that reminds me of a Miranda Lampert song.
