Well a lot can happen in just a few days. I took a bit of vacation and came back to stories of life altering events, like a 6 hour Facebook outage! Increased restrictions for Thanksgiving weekend in a neighboring province, AND another seasoned anchor leaving CTV.
Reading about Ben’s departure from CTV’s Your Morning brought back memories of many years ago. A little know fact, I once sang for Ben Mulroney and Maria Panopalis, haha. It was a snowy day in Halifax when I attempted to advance with Media Idol, which was of course connected to Canadian Idol if you can remember back that far. We had to pick from a selected list of tunes and I attempted “Swing Low Sweet Chariot”. We can all be thankful I don’t have video poof of that “performance”.
As you may have guessed, I didn’t win and never did get a big break with a singing career. But it was great to meet Maria and Ben, I remember he complimented my watch, haha. Made for a fun story and I have picture proof.
I find meeting celebrities an interesting phenomenon. I have never been great at it, but will never forget meeting Tim McGraw on Valentine’s Day in Halifax. It was quite rushed and I got the standard “hi” out like the lineup ahead of me, but then my sister says “Happy Valentine’s Day” and that just seemed changed the feel of the backstage. I always think of that when meeting famous people. It is great to be able to connect on a different level. Whether you are good at it or not, the idea of meeting celebrities goes way back.

Meeting Pamela Anderson at the Junos was an experience and being on a set where William Shatner was acting was pretty cool, even though a conversation was not possible there. Seeing these celebrities meeting other famous people is a good reminder that everyone gets excited.
