An exciting weekend of SailGP racing in Halifax comes to a close

If you think the weekend flew by, how about those flying boats in Halifax Harbour?

Despite cold, wet weather, crowds lined the shores of Halifax and Dartmouth to watch world-class sailing on Saturday and Sunday.

For the first time in Canadian waters, ROCKWOOL Sail Grand Prix had teams from ten countries race in 50-foot catamarans, some reaching 100 km/h.

Team Canada won the first race on Sunday but did not make it into the finals.

Emirates Great Britain overcame challenging conditions, claiming first place in the SailGP final.

High winds limited the ability to safely crane all ten F50s into the water ahead of racing Sunday, forcing the event to adopt an adjusted format at the start line.
