Live Theatre Is Back On The South Shore!

Looks like live theatre is returning to the South Shore this month!
I have a soft spot for the stage and in the past have enjoyed some great times acting as someone else, haha. Dinner Theatres and Murder Mystery Weekends are still a thing of the past at this point, something that we loved to do in a pre pandemic world. But live theater is returning to the stage and you can get your tickets to enjoy the show.

The South Shore Players have been working on a presentation and the curtain will go up on their first performance November 26, 2021 for opening night. Canada’s Ocean Playground was written by Hank Middleton and is being directed by Jon Allen. Two talented guys that I have had the pleasure of working with over the years. Hank has been a part of the “Kitchen Party” with his music on Country 100.7 since the show started 11 years ago. You will actually be able to catch one of his tunes on this week’s show, Saturday morning at 10am. Jon Allen has been directing with South Shore Players for years and I am thankful for having had a few prominent roles working with him on “Gentlemen of Fortune” and “Desmond the Despicable”. I have no doubt this will be another successful classic on the players’ stage.

I am going to copy one of Hank’s Facebook posts so you can see the talent that is in the band for this production. Even my high school music teacher, she is in the front row:

Hi Folks, Meet the “Canada’s Ocean Playground” House Band. Catch our musical-comedy about Nova Scotia at Central United Church in Lunenburg on Nov. 26 and 27 and Dec. 3 and 4. See southshoreplayers.ca for details). Front row: John Bird (arranger, sax, keys), Marlene Blezy(clarinet), John Graham (sax), Gary Macy (trumpet), Back row: Stewart Franck (bass), Garey Feener (drums), Janice Rodgers (keys), Pat Thompson (guitar), Hank Middleton (writer, guitar), missing and taking photo, Darlene Sandford (music director, trombone).
Follow this link and grab your tickets.
It will be a great show and it will be so nice to enjoy something in person, that has been missing for a couple of years. Thank you to the actors and everyone else that has worked hard to create Canada’s Ocean Playground.
