South Shore Public Libraries are reopening their doors to the public after being closed since late April.
Starting at on Wednesday, June 16 at 10 a.m., all locations will be opening for regular hours.
Chief Librarian, Troy Myers spoke about how they are feeling ahead of next weeks reopening.
“We are really excited and we cant wait to welcome people back,” said Myers, “We miss everybody, staff are excited and we know we can do this safely and securely.”
He explained that although the libraries offered curbside pick up and eBooks throughout the lockdown, it just wasn’t the same as having visitor in person.
“When people can come in and connect with other people, particularly our marginalized communities and our seniors that are often very alone, the social network that they find at the public library may be the only place,” said Myers.
Myers says adds that they will be opening at 25% capacity and will be following all public health guidelines.
Those who prefer curb side pick up will still have that as an option.
