Many events to mark National Indigenous Peoples Day

Events are being held across the country for National Indigenous Peoples Day.

They will showcase the rich culture and stories of First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities.

For generations, many Indigenous groups and communities have celebrated their culture and heritage on or near June 21st because of the significance of the summer solstice as the longest day of the year.

There will be numerous celebrations in Nova Scotia, including in Halifax, Chapel Island, Lunenburg and Yarmouth.

This year marks the 28th anniversary of National Indigenous Peoples Day.
