The Queens General Hospital Foundation has received it’s largest single private donation ever.
The $4.8 million donation was left to the foundation by the late Tim and Diane Ladvina, an American couple that came across Liverpool during their travels and decided it would be the perfect place to retire.
The couple was heavily involved in the community until Diane became ill and passed away after a long battle with cancer in March of 2012.
In a release Tim’s twin brother Tom said he was worried that his brother would be alone after his wife’s passing.
“I worried Tim would be alone, but I quickly found that was not the case,” said Tom, “He had so many friends, and the community was so supporting.”
Tim continued his community involvement until he fell ill in December of 2014 and passed away the following year.
Prior to his passing, Tim made the decision to give back to the community that had done do much for him and his wife.
“Tim was so grateful for the level of care Diane received at Queens General Hospital,” said his brother Tom, “He wanted to preserve that access to good, quality, local healthcare.”
Tim left the $4.8 million donation to the hospital foundation with no instructions other then that it be used to it’s fullest extent to benefit community members in Liverpool.
