Happy Nurses Day! Thank You For Answering The Call

Over the past few years it has been hard to watch the world of healthcare. I remember back when the pandemic started, there were signs of thanks and people banging pots and pans to make noise to celebrate those that work in the healthcare field. Then later those heroes were the bad guys as the world started to open up and restrictions remained in healthcare facilities. I could not imagine the stress that those in healthcare deal with on a regular basis, let alone during a state of emergency and a pandemic.
There is one group that has been front and center through it all. In fact they have always been the first ones you see when you enter many health facilities, nurses. This week is Nurses Week and this year the theme is “We Answer the Call”.

Canadian Nurses Association declares May 9-15 National Nurses Week

Now today also happens to be a special day in the history of this profession. May 12th was the birthday of the “founder of modern nursing” Florence Nightingale.

Looking through the items listed around Nurses Week I found a list of suggested ways to celebrate those that work in that profession. A lot of these suggestions are unable to happen with remaining restrictions around CoVid-19. But, that said, a simple “Thank You” might be just enough to brighten someone’s day.

20 Nurses Week Gifts & Ideas in 2022

There have been many messages posted to celebrate Nurses Week from all walks of life. The Prime Minister tweeted earlier this week too.

In an attempt to find a video to wrap up this post, there were no funny ones that were G-rated language wise, haha.
This is an old video, but I feel it is still relevant. Biggest difference would be if this video had been created in the past couple years, there would be more masks. Please try to remember if you have to go to a location where nurses are working, be kind and know that their day has likely been long and taxing already, so be nice and try to make your interaction a pleasant one. That is unless you are delivering a baby, those nurses must hear a lot. haha.
Thank you to all the nurses for everything you do!
