Province working on digital option to show vaccine status

It’s not being called a vaccine passport, but you will need to show you’re double vaxxed to head to a bar or restaurant after October 4.

The province is working on a digital option for people who are fully vaccinated but it’s not ready yet.

In the meantime, Dr. Robert Strang suggests taking a screen shot of the email sent by public health.

“If you were immunized through the Nova Scotia program, you click on the link and it gives you a form or wallet size you can print off,” explained Strang. “My wife printed it off and laminated it for my family and it’s in my wallet.”

Strang says the other option is to phone the vaccine hotline (833-797-7772) and get it mailed out.

The vaccine policy will apply to people 12 and older who are looking to go to events such as concerts and sporting events.

Strang said proof of vaccination will help keep communities safe and ensure children and youth can safely attend school.

For children 11 and under, proof of vaccination won’t be required because they’re not eligible for COVID-19 vaccinations. Children who attend these events with a fully vaccinated individual will be allowed to participate.
