A group of firefighters are heading to Prince George, B.C. to help with raging wildfires.
Twenty firefighters and an agency rep from the Department of Natural Resources will leave from Halifax on Friday.
“We’re thankful that, so far, our wildfire season has been calmer than last year’s, and I thank Nova Scotians for their diligence to check and follow the daily burn restrictions,” said Tory Rushton, Minister of Natural Resources and Renewables. “We have a duty to help other provinces when we can, and I’m proud to send our crew to answer the call for help from our colleagues in British Columbia.”
Officials will continue to monitor conditions in our province and make sure sufficient resources are available.
Crews could return early if they are needed at home.
There are 113 fires burning in the Prince George region as the area is dealing with a heat wave and dry conditions.
