Nova Scotia’s Sarah Mitton has qualified for the women’s shot put final at the Paris Olympics
On her first attempt Thursday morning, Mitton threw a distance of 19.77, surpassing the 19.55 qualification standard.
She will compete in the finals tomorrow afternoon.
A watch party is planned at the Astor Theatre in Liverpool, near her hometown of Brooklyn.
