A detached semi trailer was broken into before catching fire at a construction site for the new Highway 103 overpass.
Bridgewater police and fire services were called to the site for a structure fire at 3:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 6.
They arrived to find the trailer, heavily damaged by flames. Later, an investigation found the trailer, as well as other storage locations on the site, were broken into.
Tools and equipment were stolen.
Bridgewater Police Service Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) and General Investigation Service (GIS) investigators – who took part in the investigation with patrol officers – found evidence that requires further examination.
No word what the value of the items stolen was; investigators and property representatives are working to calculate the dollar value of stolen items and cost of damages.
Police aren’t speculating on the cause of the fire.
