NS RCMP Release Monthly Impaired Driving Charge Stats

The Nova Scotia RCMP say they charged 125 people with impaired driving related charges in December 2021.

They say 63 were charged with impaired operation of a conveyance by alcohol, 10 charged with impaired operation of a conveyance by drug, nine charged with refusal of a demand made by a peace officer and 43 issued driving suspensions for operating a conveyance while having consumed alcohol.

Police say they have 33 officers in the province who are Drug Recognition Experts and 427 breath technicians who can operate equipment to determine blood alcohol concentration.

The RCMP is also reminding people to call 911 anytime they witness a potentially impaired driver on the road.

Things to look out for include driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed; drifting in and out of lanes; tailgating and changing lanes frequently.
