Schools cancelled, municipal offices closed today (Updated: 7:49 a.m.)

Tri-County, Lunenburg/Queens County Schools and all Conseil Scolaire Acadien Provincial (CSAP) schools are closed today due to ongoing snowy conditions.

The South Shore Woldorf School is also closed today.

Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning yesterday evening, forecasting 20-30 cm across the South Shore.

The snow is expected to continue through today, tapering to flurries and ending this evening.

The forecaster warns against unnecessary travel today as blowing snow could cause whiteout conditions on highways and over exposed areas.

Meantime, some municipal offices will be closed to the public today, with staff working from remotely, accessible via phone or email.

Those include municipal offices in Chester, Mahone Bay and the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg.

Bridgewater Town Hall will be closed until noon. Staff will reassess the situation around 11 a.m.

The Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre will delay opening today until 10 a.m.

And the town of Bridgewater is reminding people that a winter parking ban is in effect during storm clean up.

People are asked to find off-street parking as crews work to clean up the mess.

Cars parked on the street during clearing efforts may be ticketed and towed.
