The municipality of the District of Lunenburg has launched a new interactive map to help you find out who maintains your road and what number to call when it needs plowing.
The municipality of the district of Lunenburg is only responsible for approximately 25 km of roads, Mayor Carolyn-Bolivar-Getson says.
So, to get roads cleared faster, the municipality wanted to make sure people know who to call.
“While they are provincial roads, they’re our access for our residents and we want to make sure that they’re getting to work and doing all these things,” Bolivar-Getson says. “Believe me, we understand that residents are frustrated by the road conditions after storms.”
As of now, the map is only for plowing and maintenance requests, but she hopes someday it will include the province’s 5-year-road repair schedule so people know when they can expect regular maintenance, Bolivar-Getson says.
“The interactive part of this map definitely has a lot of opportunities going forward as well — not only with roads.”
She says other things that could be included on the map include information about building and development requirements for different areas in the municipality.
Bolivar-Getson says, it’s important people call the 1-800-number on the map to report and incident.
You can search that map by address, or using the zoom function. Once users have selected a road, a pop up window will show the agency responsible, and a number to contact them.
