Roach’s historic streak ends in heartbreaker; defeated by $1

Nova Scotia’s Jeopardy! champ has been taken down after 23-straight victories and a four-week run on the show.

Mattea Roach was beat by $1 on Friday night ending her historic run.

Danielle Maurer, a digital marketing manager from Georgia was just a bit better but it came down to Final Jeopardy! and ended in dramatic fashion.

Maurer, who wagered $4,200 on the final clue and got it right to move her total to $15,600.

Roach answered incorrectly and $3,601 wager dropped her total to $15,599.

She pulled in $560,000US during her record streak and will be back for the Tournament of Champions.

The 23-year-old tutor holds the longest streak of any Canadian to appear on the show and sits fifth all-time in wins.
