$99M for affordable housing in Atlantic Canada

Ottawa has announced funding to support dozens of affordable housing projects in Atlantic Canada.

Federal ministers were in Moncton on Friday afternoon to announce nearly $99 million in funding.

That money will be used to build and repair more than 4,100 affordable homes through 69 projects.

“Everyone deserves a place to call their own and the Affordable Housing Fund is one way we’re helping make that a reality for Canadians,” Housing Minister Sean Fraser said in a news release.

“We will keep investing in affordable homes and working with partners across the country to end the housing crisis once and for all.”

Officials said the funding is coming as low-interest and forgivable loans through the Affordable Housing Fund.
