Bridge collapses near Tatamagouche: tractor-trailer ends up in river; driver ticketed

A bridge collapsed near Tatamagouche this morning underneath a tractor trailer, leaving the truck, twisted, half submerged in the river below.

Reports, now suggest, the truck driver is being issued a summary offence ticket, for driving a vehicle of that weight and size on the Donaldson bridge, not equipped to handle it. Tickets range from $237-$4100.

It was around 7a.m. Tuesday morning, on Lake Rd in French River.

The driver, and sole occupant, was uninjured.

The road will remain closed indefinitely and motorists are asked to use Trout Brook Rd or Cooper Rd instead.
