Shelburne County wildfire finally under control

The Barrington Lake wildfire is finally under control.

DNRR says the final size measured 235 square kilometres, it was the largest wildfire in Nova Scotia history.

Mop-up is now the priority for firefighters, they began on the perimeter and worked toward the centre.

The province continues to use infrared scanners and helicopters to detect hot-spots.

This work could still take weeks.

They remind citizens to stay away from all wildfire areas, and not operate drones.

The Barrington Lake wildfire broke out on May 27th.
