‘Chedabucto Bay’ lifeboat dedicated in Clark’s Harbour

A new Canadian Coast Guard vessel has been dedicated in Clark’s Harbour.

Halifax West MP Lena Metledge Diab was on hand for the traditional bottle breaking ceremony for the Chedabucto Bay.

The ship was delivered to the area in January, it’s the 14th search and rescue lifeboat accepted by the federal government.

The Coast Guard says the boat is specifically designed to respond to search and rescue incidents at sea, and are ready to respond at a moment’s notice.

It can reach 25 knots an hour, and will be staffed by four crew members.

Six more boats are expected to be delivered across the country by 2025.
