Wharf Rat Rally returns to Digby

Get your motorcycle running to Digby for the long weekend.

The 19th annual Wharf Rat Rally gets underway Thursday, but opening ceremonies happen Friday night.

Organizer Rick Allwright says 25,000 people are expected in the town.

“That’s generally where our numbers usually end up. It’s going to be a great weekend for it too, the weather is looking great,” says Allwright.

He says it’s a huge economic driver for the community, with hotels, restaurants and businesses filling up at the end of the tourism season.

A shuttle is operating from the Wal-Mart parking lot each day.

Allwright says there’s something for everyone.

“If you’re riding here on a motorcycle or not, you’re more than welcome to check out all the activities and sights we have here in Digby. Lots of fun for the whole family!”

The event ends Sunday night with entertainment and fireworks downtown.
