Nova Scotia celebrates its volunteers

Sixty-seven Nova Scotians have been honoured at the 49th annual Provincial Volunteer Awards.

At Monday’s ceremony in Halifax, Lt.-Gov. Arthur J. LeBlanc said, “This year, volunteers have been instrumental to the success of large-scale celebrations, including the 2023 North American Indigenous Games, and responded to extraordinary challenges due to severe weather events.”

Three specialty awards were presented: the Youth Volunteer Award, the Family Volunteer Award and the Nova Scotia Strong Award.

More than 410-thousand Nova Scotians volunteer each year, contributing almost 79 million hours to their communities.
