Man charged with uttering threats and more than $35 thousand worth of vandalism

A man has been charged with several counts of mischief and uttering threats in Hubbards, Tantallon and Port Hawkesbury.

RCMP say October 16th around 6am, RCMP received a report of a man who confronted another man at a business then slashed tires on his pickup truck on Reeves St. in Port Hawkesbury. He then ran from the scene.

In Tantallon, October 17, at a marina on Nautical Way, a rigid hull inflatable vessel of the St. Margarets Bay Marine Search and Rescue Society, two boat trailers and a boat lift were vandalized in Tantallon. Video surveillance captured footage of the suspect.

Then in Hubbards, car tires were slashed on Shore Club Rd.

Threats were also made over the phone.

The total cost of damage is more than $35,000.

The 57-year-old suspect from Boutiliers Point turned himself Tuesday and will return to court today facing the following charges:

  • Uttering Threat (six counts);
  • Mischief (five counts);
  • Criminal Harassment;
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.
