Canadian Tire is cutting about three per cent of its workforce across the country.
It also plans to eliminate most current vacancies for a further three per cent reduction.
The move comes as the retailer saw softening consumer demand in the third quarter.
Sales were down 1.6 per cent in the third quarter as consumer spending shifted to essentials.
