Nominations open for Medal of Bravery award

As of January 18, you can now nominate someone who you believe deserves heroic recognition.

“Each year, there are countless situations where heroic Nova Scotians selflessly help those in need, often in dangerous circumstances, putting their own personal safety at risk,” said Premier Tim Houston. “This award is our way of thanking them for their courageous actions. I strongly encourage you to nominate someone you know who didn’t hesitate to step up and act bravely.”

Eligible for nomination are acts of bravery that happened on or after January 1, 2021 and the deadline to submit is May 1.

Since being introduced in 2008, 47 Nova Scotians have been awarded the medal.

Nomination forms are available at Access Nova Scotia centres, MLA offices and at: https://novascotia.ca/govt/bravery/pub/nova-scotia-bravery-award-nomination-form.pdf
