Cape Breton Regional Police have charged a man with attempted murder connected to an assault.
Officers responded to a domestic incident at a Sydney home late Monday night where they found five people injured.
One person with serious injuries was airlifted to hospital in Halifax. Three people were treated in hospital and released.
Police arrested a 33-year-old man inside the residence, and he remains in custody.
Police say to protect their privacy in the nature of this incident, no further identifying information about the victims can be released.
