Passenger numbers increased at Halifax Stanfield in 2023

Halifax Stanfield saw more airline passengers in 2023 compared to 2022 but numbers were still below pandemic totals.

The international airport served nearly 3,580,000 travellers last year, a 15 per cent increase over 2022’s roughly 3,100,000.

In 2019, the airport served more than 4,000,000 passengers.

In a release, President and CEO of the Airport Authority, Joyce Carter, calls 2023’s growth “a testament to continued travel demand, the industry’s recovery efforts, and the unwavering dedication” of their employees and airport community.

Anticipation is also building at the airport for the return of several routes that were temporarily suspended, including Icelandair’s non-stop seasonal service to Reykjavik, and three WestJet transatlantic services.
