Flight from Halifax lands safely in U.S. after threat reported

No passengers were hurt after an alleged threat against an Air Canada plane travelling from Halifax to New Jersey.

In a statement, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said Newark Airport police received a report regarding a “threat made towards Air Canada flight 8547″on Monday at about noon.

It said the plane landed at the Newark Liberty International Airport without incident, and all passengers were deplaned safely with no reported injuries.

Port Authority police and their canine unit cleared the aircraft and normal operations resumed.

Officials in the U.S. are investigating the incident.
