Deer rescued from Lahave River ice

The deer has been rescued from the ice on the Lahave River.

On Monday, the Dayspring and District Fire Department received reports from people concerned the animal might be frozen to the lake.

Firefighters from surrounding departments supervised by the Department of Natural Resources, launched an inflatable boat and retrieved the deer.

It was released into the woods and seemed to be in perfect health.

In a social media post, the Dayspring and District Fire Department says, “While there were concerns about the length of time it took to begin this rescue, it is always better to see if the animal can find its own way off the ice first.”
