Truro to host first-ever all-female harness races

A first for harness racing in our region.

The Truro Raceway will host the first-ever all women’s event this July.

The Atlantic Women’s Driver Challenge will feature seven female drivers competing in five races.

Four are from the Atlantic provinces, including Antigonish’s Clare MacDonald and Inverness native Monica Sutherland.

Truro’s Tammy Mackay will compete in her hometown.

It’s a charity event to raise money for breast cancer research.

Truro Raceway General Manager Steve Fitzsimmons says it’s an opportunity to support equity and diversity and showcase incredible talent.
