Keltic Lodge, cottages in Ingonish to close

Cape Breton’s Keltic Lodge is closing.

Several of the main cottages in Ingonish will also shut down.

The announcement was made by GolfNorth and Parks Canada, who say the lodge is aging, and would have cost tens of millions of dollars to fix up.

The Highlands Links Golf Course and other tourist properties in the Middle Head peninsula will remain open.

GolfNorth say they’ve invested in these facilities recently, and will continue to work on the long-term sustainability of the area.

They say they’re aware of the lodge’s historical significance, and Parks Canada is working to confirm its heritage values.
