Two people are facing drug trafficking charges after a traffic stop in Amherst.

Officers with the Amherst Police Department stopped a vehicle in the town just before midnight on Friday.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a “substantial amount” of crystal meth and cocaine, police said in a news release.

A 45-year-old woman from Amherst and a 75-year-old man from Cumberland County have both been charged with possessing methamphetamine and cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

Both were remanded into custody and are due to appear in court on Monday.
