The water at the QEII hospital in Halifax is now safe for drinking after two water main breaks last week.
Tests done over the weekend show the water meets the Canadian Drinking Water Quality Guidelines, according to a news release from Nova Scotia Health.
However, maintenance will continue testing the water for several days and it may have a slight chlorine taste. But the chlorine levels are within the Canadian guidelines for safe drinking water, says Nova Scotia Health.
Fire suppression at the site is still not fully operational, but the health authority says there is “enhanced monitoring” on every floor.
A water main broke on Wednesday at the hospital, followed by a second break overnight.
A temporary fix for running water was in place by Thursday evening.
