Man arrested after machete incident in New Glasgow

A Pictou County man is charged with weapons offences after waving a machete outside a fast-food restaurant.

New Glasgow Regional Police were called to the Tim Hortons Wendys on Westville Road shortly after midnight on Saturday.

Staff hid inside while a lone man outside waved a machete and tried to get into the locked business.

He smashed a door and got in but took off.

No one was injured.

Officers arrested the man nearby and took him into custody.

The 42-year-old male was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court in Pictou on Monday.

New Glasgow Regional Police continue to investigate.
