The province is giving diversion funding to 14 organizations.
It helps those who are homeless or at risk with things like overdue power bills and rent.
Seven organizations in the HRM will receive funding, the others will be spread through rural areas.
They include Bridgewater and Queens County, Port Hawkesbury, Kentville, the CBRM, Truro, New Glasgow and Amherst.
Up to $500,000 will be used by the community groups for support to find housing.

Churchill disappointed
The province’s opposition leader wants to see more help for the Tri-Counties.
Zach Churchill says his riding of Yarmouth, along with Shelburne and Digby were not included in the announcement
“The community organizations that are trying to help people who are dealing with poverty and homelessness, they are maxed out. They deserved to be included in this announcement,” said Churchill.
The province says the Tri-Counties were given funding earlier this year in the regular budget.
They say the ones who received funding this round had requested additional funds, and they continue to work closely with all partners on changing community needs.
