RCMP in Lunenburg County warn public after string of marine thefts

RCMP in Lunenburg County are alerting the public after a string of thefts where items were stolen from boats in the water.

Police say the thefts occurred between June 6 and June 16, with most believed to have occurred during early morning hours.

The primary target was outboard motors, but other smaller items were taken in some cases.

A spokesperson for the RCMP indicated the thefts took place between Mahone Bay and Lunenburg.

Boat owners are being asked to ensure their boats and the items on board are secured and to check on them regularly.

Anyone with information or surveillance video of suspicious persons or vehicles near their waterways, specifically in the early morning hours, is asked to contact Lunenburg County District RCMP at 902-634-8674.
