Winter Weather Among Challenges For Canadian Blood Services

Poor attendance at blood donor clinics between Christmas and New Year’s has created challenges for Canadian Blood Services.

Director of Donor Relations in Atlantic Canada, Peter MacDonald, says CBS was in trouble before that due to inclement weather.

He says they need help.

“If people have an appointment to give blood in the coming weeks to honour that appointment or if they have not given blood before or it’s been some time, this is the opportunity where it’s really needed.”

MacDonald says people as young as 17 years-old are eligible to donate blood.

Men can donate every 56 days while it’s every 84 days for women.

Clinics will be held in Chester, Liverpool and Bridgewater from January 23-27.

People can head here to get more information or make an appointment.
