Heavy rain possible for Annapolis Valley, western N.S.

Western Nova Scotia and the Annapolis Valley could be in for some heavy rain this weekend.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Hants, Annapolis, Kings, and Digby counties.

Rain at times heavy is expected from early Saturday morning until the afternoon, and then again Saturday night.

Between 30 and 50 millimetres could fall, with locally higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. Forecasters said rainfall rates could exceed 20 millimetres per hour at times.

“Heavy downpours can cause flash flooding and pooling of water. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible,” said the statement.

Environment Canada said you should keep an eye on the latest forecasts for more details.
