26 child sex offences for Windsor Junction man, some from 1990s

A Windsor Junction man now faces 26 child pornography and sexual assault offences.

In July 2023, an integrated investigation team of officers from the RCMP and the Halifax Regional Police, searched a man’s home on Windsor Junction Road, according to a news release.

Police arrested Robert Edward List, then 57, of Windsor Junction and seized electronic devices.

In August of 2023, police charged List with nine firearms offences and 19 crimes against children, which happened between 2006 and 2023, including:

  • sexual assault
  • luring a child
  • making child pornography
  • possessing child pornography
  • invitation to sexual touching
  • sexual interference
  • unsafe storage of a gun
  • unauthorized possession of a gun

Officers arrested List, now 58, again when he appeared in court on June 25.

Police then charged him with 11 counts of failing to comply with a court order, along with possessing a gun contrary to a court order.

Through the investigation and by analyzing 70 terabytes of digital evidence from more than 40 electronic devices, List faces additional child pornography charges of:

  • sexual interference
  • invitation to sexual touching
  • sexual exploitation
  • sexual assault
  • corrupt morals (an offence from the 1997 criminal code)
  • making child pornography
  • possessing child pornography

RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Guillaume Tremblay said this is one of the largest evidence seizures by the joint child exploitation team form HRP and RCMP.

“We do believe that other individuals may have been victims from Nova Scotia,” he said, adding that they don’t believe there were victims outside the province.

List also used to own a wood-working business where some of the victims may have been employed by him, said Tremblay.

He said some offences date back to the 1990s, and there have been several changes to the criminal code since then. Also, children and parents may not have been as aware in the 90s of what defines sexual offences. For those reasons, he said people should consider whether they might be a victim.

List will appear in court again on July 25.
